For a Reel, the first seconds help viewers decide whether to continue. A clear opening makes the subject understandable without requiring a long introduction. Consider which question the video answers, how quickly it becomes clear and whether the ending delivers on the opening promise.

When reviewing insights, compare watch behavior, shares, saves, profile visits and genuine comments. Not every signal will be available in every account view, but using more than likes produces a fuller picture.

Three experiments you can repeat

1. Opening test: explain the benefit at the start of one version and lead with a surprising result in another.
2. Format test: compare a spoken explanation with clear on-screen captions.
3. Topic test: answer a beginner question one week and a more advanced question the next.
